Ahlan Ya Ramadhan!

Alhamdulillah. The blessed month of Ramadhan is here! The month of Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down, a guidance for the people, and clear verses of guidance and criterion. [Quran: Chapter 2, 183].


This is the month of purification where every Muslim should receive the blessed month of Ramadan with repentance, sincerity, resoluteness and earnestness. We should make the intention to perform extra acts of devotion and worship therein, including the Night Prayer (qiyam), recitation of Qur’an, and abundant charity to the poor and needy.

Ramadhan should be the month of productivity for us Muslims. Thus, better preparation for Ramadhan is indeed very helpful especially during summer. Ramadhan in hot and long summer days stretches up to 18-20 hours which will be a great challenge for Muslims. In most part of Scotland, dawn starts from 3.30 am and sunset ends at 9.00 pm. Nonetheless, the holy month of Ramadhan comes once a year that we should be highly motivated to take this challenge to strengthen our religious beliefs. We should take this opportunity to train our inner soul, to achieve the goal of self-restraint for this is the only worship which is for Allah alone.
